Results of tests and procedures

Your doctor will advise when they expect your results to arrive at the practice.  You will be contacted by our reception staff to make an appointment with your doctor to discuss the results and any necessary follow up treatment.  Neither our reception staff nor our nursing staff has permission to give results to patients by phone or in person without consent from the treating doctor.

Practice Information


Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time and doctor. Emergencies will always be given priority and our reception staff will attempt to contact you if there is any unforeseen delay or your doctor has been called away.  A standard appointment is 10 minutes.  Longer consultation times are available, so please ask our receptionist if you require extra time.  If your or a family member requires an interpreter service, we can organise this for you.  Please let us know when you make the appointment.


Reminder System

Our practice is committed to preventative care.  Your doctor will seek your permission to be included on our reminder system.  We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventative health services appropriate to your care.  If you do not wish to be a part of this system, please let your doctor or practice nurse know.



Behaviour – No Tolerance

Respectful behaviour is expected at all times to doctors, nurses and reception staff.  No tolerance will be accepted in the first instance.


Your Health Record

The Australian Privacy Principles in The Privacy Act set out how this clinic should collect, use, keep secure and disclose personal information.  Your medical record is a confidential document.  It is the policy of the practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff.


Fees and Billing Arrangements

All Medicare consultations are bulk billed.  Please bring your Medicare card and any relevant concession cards with you.  Consultations that are not covered by Medicare such as travel medicine, pre-employment and heavy vehicle licence medicals, insurance medicals, workers compensation and motor vehicle accident injuries will incur a private fee.  Please speak to reception staff for more information.  A copy of our fees is kept at reception.


Cancellation or Non Attendance

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please telephone reception at your earliest convenience so we may offer your appointment to someone else.  Late arrivals will only be seen at the discretion of the doctor.  A fee may be charged for consecutive non attendances.


Prescriptions, sickness certificates and referrals

We are committed to providing the best medical care which will require you to consult with your doctor for all prescriptions, medical certificates and referrals.  It is the policy of the practice that medical certificates will NOT be back dated.



We recommend and carry out all childhood and adult vaccinations.  Some vaccinations are only available on prescription at the expense to the patient.  Please speak to our practice nurse for further information.


Care Out Side Normal Opening Hours

Elizabeth Park Medical Clinic after hours care is managed by National Home Care Doctor.  When our surgery is closed you will automatically be diverted to this service.  They start taking bookings for home visits from 4pm if you are unable to attend our clinic.  You may also contact them direct on 137 425 to arrange a home visit.


Specialist referrals and out of pocket costs

It is a requirement of the Medical Health Act that an assessment of the patient by the referring doctor take place prior to specialist rebates being paid.  It may be necessary for your doctor to refer you for specialist opinion, pathology or x-ray investigations.  Most specialist and services provided by pathology or radiology groups will incur a private gap and require full payment at the time of the consultation.  If you are concerned about any possible charges, please feel free to discuss them with your doctor.  Further information regarding this should be sought from the relevant specialist.

Our practice charges a private fee for all Drivers Licence Renewals (light vehicle $50 & heavy vehicle $100).  This is not covered by Medicare.  Please speak to your doctor if you have any questions about our fees.


Mobile Phones

As a courtesy we ask that all mobile phones be switched off in the waiting room and during your consultation with the doctor or practice nurse.
